What is DDM?

DDM stands for Direct Digital Manufacturing. DDM is particularly advantageous for small batch production. However, where large volumes are involved, DDM can still have a significant impact. This is because the technology is perfect for the manufacturing of components with immediate effect where the data is already in CAD format. Literally in minutes you are starting a production run.

A number of Companies have already taken advantage of our 3D printing service bureau by 3D printing in FDM small batch production runs where it was un-economical to consider traditional manufacturing techniques. By this I mean investing in expensive plastic injection molding tooling or machining components from a billet. When using our 3D printing service bureau our customers are saving time and money by not investing in tooling.

We can produce 5, 25 or 100 parts that will be a duplicate of all other components produced from the same CAD data. 3D Quick Printing are educating our growing customer base to understand the benefits of using a 3D printing bureau service by suggesting they design their products, jig, fixtures and work holding devices for the additive manufacturing process. By this I mean that our 3D printing service is helping designers to design products without having the constraints of traditional manufacturing techniques. This has allowed designers to challenge convention, incorporating features that could not have previously been manufactured.

DDM with the help of a 3D printing service like 3D Quick Printing is transforming the landscape. Components designed for DDM can only be made using DDM. Manufacturing companies with the vision to embrace DDM are beginning to realise that this state of the art technology helps companies to bring products to market quicker at a fraction of the development costs normally involved with traditional techniques. This has allowed designers to challenge convention, incorporating features that could not have previously been manufactured. Components can have reduced weight, with improved strength and performance.

It is very clear to industry leaders that Additive Manufacturing and especially DDM will change the landscape and profile of organisations willing to adopt this ‘NOW TECHNOLOGY’

Here at 3D Quick Printing we recognise that too, by supporting you, our customers with our 3D printing service we hope to grow your business.

Please get in touch with either Ken or myself Chris to help you make the transition to DDM by using our FDM machines at our 3D printing service bureau in the heart of the Midlands. It is without doubt The Factory of the FUTURE…… TODAY.
